In CWES, he has been associated with design of hydro-mechanical equipment as an Assistant Director, Deputy Director and Director for around 14 years; wherein he handled issues related to design aspects of numerous water resources projects.

As an Executive Engineer, he was involved in activities relating to collection and dissemination of hydro-meteorological data for around 4 years.

As a Sr. Joint Commissioner, he served in the D/o WR, RD& GR, MoJS for 6 years wherein his responsibilities included the matters relating to bilateral co-operation of India in the area of water resources with its two neighbouring countries and hydropower development in the north-eastern region.

As a Director, he was also associated with the monitoring and appraisal for various schemes under PMKSY for around 2 years along with overseeing works relating to hydro-meteorological observations.

Presently he is the Chief Engineer, NWA where he is responsible for Training & Capacity Building activities for various stakeholders in Water Resources and allied Sectors.

His professional career within the Central Water Commission (CWC) began in May 2006 as an Assistant Director. In this role, he worked on data storage, analysis, and the development of technical modules for the Surface Water Data Entry System (SWDES) and Water Information System and Data Online Management (WISDOM), as well as coordinating bilateral water matters with Nepal and Bhutan. He was promoted to Deputy Director/Executive Engineer in November 2011, serving across the Planning & Development Directorate, the Flood Control Applications Directorate—where he executed mathematical flood modelling—and then as Executive Engineer in Himalayan Ganga Division in Dehradun he managed hydrological observation stations and carried out flood forecasting. From 2017 to 2019, he served as the Procurement Officer for the National Hydrology Project, managing high-value consultancy and non-consultancy tenders.

Since January 2020, he served as the Senior Joint Commissioner for the Indus Wing, DoWR,RD&GR under the Ministry of Jal Shakti. In this administrative and diplomatic capacity, he managed the implementation of the Indus Waters Treaty 1960, participated in tours and meetings Permanent Indus Commission. He oversaw the exchange of gauge, discharge, and irrigated crop area data, coordinated transboundary flood warnings, and provides technical evaluation and the Treaty-angle clearance for major hydro-electric and storage projects on the Western Rivers, including the Kishanganga, Ratle, and Pakal Dul projects etc. He was also involved in arbitration case against Pakistan, under the aegis of the Indus Waters Treaty, in respect of the Kishanganga and Ratle HEPs.

He has been trained in international program on Hydrological Data Collection and Processing at UNESCO-IHE in Delft, Netherlands , World Bank Mission procurement and managed training programs conducted under the National Hydrology Project (NHP) in India.

Prior to joining Central Water Commission, Sh. Ankit Dudeja worked as Assistant Professor (Probation) in Civil Engineering Department of IIIT Basara, Andra Pradesh for a brief period of 9 months.

He joined Central Water Commission (CWC) as Assistant Director in March, 2012. For about 7 years from 2012 to 2019 comprising of 4 years as Assistant Director and 3 years as Deputy Director he was associated with Hydrological Studies Organization (HSO), CWC New Delhi. He was involved with project hydrology, Appraisal of Hydrology chapter(s) of DPRs/PFRs of Major/ Medium Irrigation and Multipurpose projects and various works related to Hydrology & Hydrological aspects of Water Resources. Hydrological Design Aids; Development of Probable Maximum Precipitation Atlas; Review of Flood Estimation Report(s); Review of Design Flood for WR Projects under DRIP; Review of BIS standards wrt Hydrology etc. were some of the works he has significantly contributed.

He was then ported as Deputy Director, Monitoring & Appraisal Directorate, CWC Guwahati from 2019 to 2022. He has been associated with Physical and Financial Monitoring of Major, Medium and Minor Irrigation and centrally funded Flood Protection Projects in the states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. He was actively involved in scrutiny and appraisal of 1 Medium Irrigation Project i.e. Amrang in Assam.

As the next assignment, Sh. Ankit Dudeja was posted as Executive Engineer, Cauvery Division, CWC Bengaluru from 2022-25 wherein in addition to Administrative, Establishment & Accounts related work of Division Office, he was mandated with the work of Hydro-Meteorological Observation in Upper Cauvery, Upper Tungabhadra, Middle Krishan and some portion of West Flowing River Basins; Flood Forecasting Activities in the jurisdiction covering Karnataka, Goa, Lower Maharashtra and Upper Kerala. He also acted as Chief Executing Officer for NABL accredited Upper Cauvery Water Quality (Level-II) Laboratory at Bengaluru. He has also handled the work of Drawing & Disbursing Officer, Mahadayi PRAWAH as additional charge for approximately 2 years during the tenure.

Sh. Ankit Dudeja joined as Director at NWA, Pune on 30.06.2025. Prior to joining as Director, officer has been delivering 15 to 20 lectures annually at NWA/ CWC and forums.

He joined Central Water Commission (CWC) as Assistant Director in June’ 2012. Before joining CWC, he served as Assistant Works Manager in Indian Ordnance Factory Service (ESE-2008), posted at Field Gun Factory, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

During the initial years in CWC, he was posted as Assistant Director in the Gates Design (NW&S) Directorate, New Delhi, wherein he was involved in the Appraisal of hydro-mechanical chapters of DPRs/PFRs of Major and Medium Irrigation and Multipurpose projects. He was also involved in scrutiny/vetting of detailed design and drawings of hydro-mechanical components of Major and Medium Irrigation and Multipurpose projects.

Thereafter, he worked as Deputy Director in Control Board Directorate wherein all technical and financial matters of Betwa River Board and Bansagar Control Board were looked after by him. After that he worked in Technical Documentation Directorate where he was involved in the works of preparation and publication of various technical guidelines/journals like Bhagirath, Jalansh etc.

Thereafter, he worked as Deputy Director in Disaster and Resilience Wing of National Dam safety Authority. In NDSA, he was involved in preparation and publication of Annual Report of NDSA, maintaining database of major dam failures, Emergency Action Plan (EAP) etc. He was actively involved in Rapid Risk Screening of Specified dams of the Country including imparting training to dam owners, quality management of rapid risk screening exercise, development, management and handover of web base tool- RRSSD to all the dam owners/project authorities.

Sh. Vivek Kumar Verma joined NWA as Director on 30.06.2025. His areas of interest include Hydro-Mechanical aspects of Water Resources Projects, Inter-state matters, dam safety aspects, hydrological observations, etc.

He joined the Central Water Commission (CWC) as an Assistant Director in January 2013. Prior to joining CWC, he worked for three years as Manager (Engineering) with the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB).

As Assistant Director in the Inter-State Matters Directorate, CWC, New Delhi, he was involved in the appraisal of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and Pre-Feasibility Reports (PFRs) of major and medium irrigation and multipurpose projects pertaining to peninsular river basins from the inter-State perspective. He assisted the Supervisory Committee on Cauvery, the Supervisory Committee on Babhali Barrage, and the Negotiation Committee on the Mahanadi River Water Sharing Dispute. He also contributed to updating CWC's publication, "Legal Instruments on Rivers in India – Volume III", a unique compilation of agreements relating to inter-State rivers in India.

As Deputy Director in the Inter-State Matters-II Directorate, CWC, New Delhi, he was involved in the appraisal of DPRs/PFRs of major and medium irrigation, multipurpose and hydroelectric projects, as well as water supply proposals for thermal and industrial projects in the Ganga, Indus and Brahmaputra river basins from the inter-State perspective. He also provided technical assistance in matters relating to international cooperation in the water sector, conducted inter-State meetings on the sharing of Ravi-Beas waters, and supported the Negotiation Committee on the water-sharing dispute related to the Tilaiya Dhadhar Project.

Later, as Deputy Director in the Water Management Directorate, CWC, New Delhi, he was associated with the preparation of the Weekly Bulletin on Reservoir Live Storage Status in India and participated in the meetings of the Crop Weather Watch Group (CWWG) and the Crop Weather Watch Group for Drought Management (CWWGDM). He also played a key role in preparing a roadmap for expanding the CWC Reservoir Storage Monitoring System (RSMS) by bringing more reservoirs under its coverage.

Apart from his regular assignments, Shri Chaitanya K. S. has actively contributed to research and knowledge dissemination in the water sector. He presented papers on water policy-related issues during two editions of India Water Week organized by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, and at the 3rd World Irrigation Forum organized by the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) at Bali, Indonesia, in September 2019. He co-authored the papers "Efficient and Productive Use for Sustainable Water Resources Management in India" and "Policy Interventions and Institutional Reforms for Sustainable Water Management," which were presented at international conferences on sustainable water resources management.

He joined the National Water Academy (NWA), CWC, Pune in October 2020 as Deputy Director. During his tenure, he has made significant contributions to the Academy's activities in the application of emerging geospatial technologies for water resources management, digital learning, and capacity building. He played an important role in NWA's engagement with the Capacity Building Commission (CBC) and contributed to securing NSCSTI accreditation with a "Very Good" rating. He has also contributed to the development of e-learning modules on the iGOT Karmayogi platform and introduced several new training themes, including Urban Flood Management and Integrated Urban Flood Management. Under the aegis of the Training Oversight Committee, he has been actively involved in fostering synergy among the three premier training institutes under the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation (DoWR, RD & GR) through collaborative capacity-building initiatives.

He has now been promoted as Director and is presently serving as Director (IT & GIS) at the National Water Academy, Central Water Commission, Pune. In his current role, he provides strategic leadership in the areas of Information Technology, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, digital transformation, e-learning, training information systems, and the integration of emerging technologies for capacity building in the water resources sector.

His areas of professional interest include Remote Sensing of Natural Resources, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geospatial Analysis, Water Policy, Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), Digital Technologies in Water Resources, Transboundary Water Cooperation, and Water Conflict Management.

He joined the Central Water Commission (CWC) as Assistant Director in 2013 and underwent Induction Training at the National Water Academy, Pune. Over the years, he has contributed significantly across various assignments in flood management, project monitoring, administration, and capacity building. From 2013 to 2017, he served as Assistant Director at the Ganga Flood Control Commission (GFCC), Patna, where he was engaged in the techno-economic appraisal and monitoring of flood management schemes. He also contributed to the preparation of "Guidelines on Use of Geotextiles in Flood Management Works." He continued his tenure at GFCC as Deputy Director (2017-2019), where he handled human resource management, budgeting, and served as the Head of Office.

He was then posted as Deputy Director at Monitoring & Appraisal Directorate, CWC, Kolkata (2019-2021), where he monitored National Projects and schemes under AIBP and CADWM, and appraised irrigation projects. In his subsequent posting as Deputy Director at GFCC, Patna (2021-2022), he again served as Head of Office, overseeing HR, budget, procurement, and other administrative functions. From 2022 to 2025, he worked as Executive Engineer, Lower Ganga Division-I, CWC, Patna. He was responsible for managing hydrological observations at 60 river sites in North Bihar, flood forecasting, procurement, budgeting, and also held the charge of Head of Office.

During 2025-2026, he was posted as Deputy Director (Administration & Coordination) and a core faculty member at the National Water Academy, Pune. During his tenure as Deputy Director (A&C) he has contributed to administrative works like procurements, works related to establishment, functions of DDO, budget management, overseeing maintenance of the campus and supervision of construction of underpass etc. He has also delivered several lectures and organised training programs. Currently, upon promotion to the JAG level in May 2026 he has been posted as Director (RM) in NWA and he looks after training related to river management and associated topics.

He has attended several specialized training programs in India and abroad, including Training on Integrated Water Management under JICA, Japan (2018); Training on Dam Safety at Concordia University, Canada (2025); Training on Emotional Intelligence (2017); Mandatory Career Training programs at NWA, IIM Bangalore, and IISc Bangalore (2024-25); etc.

Sh. Kumar Kushal has contributed as a resource person at NWA and other platforms, delivering lectures on topics like HO observation, flood management, administration, budgeting, and public procurement. His areas of interest include Flood management; Appraisal and monitoring of water resources schemes; Administration and human resource management; Budgeting, tendering, and contract management.

On promotion from Junior Time Scale to Senior Time Scale w.e.from 02-07-2018 as Deputy Director in Engineering Service of Central Water Commission went to CWC (Hqs.), New Delhi and worked there from 2018 to 2020 in the PMKSY Dte attached with SPR Wing of the Ministry of Jal Shakti and as Dy. Commissioner, SPR from 2020 to 2022.

He worked as Executive Engineer/CDDO, Lower Godavari Division, CWC, Hyderabad from 2022 to 2025 and worked as Executive Engineer/CDDO, Upper Godavari Division from 2025 to 2026 before joining as Deputy Director (Admn. & Coord.), NWA, CWC, Pune.
